Based in Nigeria, Africa
ML researcher exploring African language technologies — building systems that understand accented speech, detect fraud, and make AI work for Africa.
About me
I'm Ridwan Bello, an ML researcher from Kwara, Nigeria. My work sits at the intersection of machine learning, African languages, and real-world impact — building technology that works for the people and accents often left out of the AI conversation.
I believe in learning in public, writing clearly about hard things, and building tools that matter. When I'm not training models, I'm writing about the journey on my blog, Ridwan Writes.
Research & Projects
Recognizing speech despite heavy African accents. Building ASR systems that work for the 120+ African accents often excluded from mainstream speech technology.
Detecting fraudulent texts using machine learning. Building robust classifiers that identify deceptive language patterns to protect users from text-based fraud.
